Indian (India) Medicine, Science, and Culture Division (IMSCD)

The Indian Medicine, Science, and Culture Division (IMSCD) of WISE conducts research on Ayurvedic medicine, ancient Indian science and technology, Indian herbal medicines, prana and chakra energy, yoga, transcendental meditation, and many other subjects that are of interest and value to individuals, scholars, health care institutions, and others. This includes scientific research and studies on all of the subjects indicated by the research centers below, as well as, other specialized subjects in these fields. In addition to doing research, this division seeks to promote greater understanding of the Indian culture and the great contributions India has made to science, medicine, and technology. WISE also seeks to promote greater interaction among researchers and scholars in India and those in the United States and other countries around the world.

To achieve these goals, WISE will collaborate and cooperate with Indian researchers, scholars, and leaders at:

1) Indian universities and colleges throughout India, such as the Indian Institute of Technology (Bombay, Bangalore, and other locations), Tata Institute of Fundamental Research; and the University of Delhi;

2) Indian research organizations throughout India, such as the Bose Institute, the Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC), the Indian Council of Medical Research, Traditional Knowledge Digital Library, and the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research;

3) Indian government organizations, such as the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) , Ministry of New and Renewable Energy , and the Department of Ayurveda, Yoga, and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy (AYUSH);

4) Indian cultural organizations and institutes in India and around the world, such as the Infinity Foundation, founded by Dr. Rajiv Malhotra; the International Society for the Investigation of Ancient Civilization, founded by Dr. N. Mahalingham; the World Community Service Centre (WCSC); Vedic Cultural Centres (many worldwide); the Centre for Cultural Resources and Training; the Archaeological Survey of India, and many others.

Through mutual collaboration and cooperation, WISE seeks to promote a much higher level of Western understanding of Indian culture and heritage, as well as, greater scientific achievement and technological innovation than could be achieved without such cooperation.
